Transfer Station

As part of the social-distancing protocols during the COVID-19 crisis - please be advised that there will be a max limit of 5 cars in the Transfer Station. One of the attendants will be controlling the traffic at the front and our Public Works team will set up traffic flow measures.

The Township of Cavan Monaghan Transfer Station at 1427 Syer Line, Fraserville, is open to all our residents.

Please be advised: The Reuse Center at the Transfer Station is closed until further notice for precautionary measures against COVID-19. 

Hours of operation:

  • Monday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Tuesday to Thursday, Closed
  • Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Sunday, Closed

Fees and charges

Please note: Only debit will be accepted as payment for additional bag tags and excess waste.

  • Bag Tags - $2.50 each
  • Excess waste or construction waste - Fee determined by our attendants ($5.00 minimum)
  • Scrap Metal - Free
  • Tires (no rims) - Free

The Public Works User Fee and Charges By-law notes the fees for other items that can be disposed of at the Transfer Station.

Bag tags

If you're a Township resident and do not participate in curbside collection, you'll have a number of bag tags for every three months of the year. To use or to switch to using bag tags at the Transfer Station please contact the Public Works Clerk.

Items we accept

Please be considerate to Transfer Station attendants and other users and put your waste items in the correct locations.

Gently used items

You can drop off gently used items such as lamps, dishes, and small household items to the Re-Use Centre on-site at the Transfer Station.

Textiles and/or clothing are not accepted but you are encouraged to donate these items to the Blue Box on site.

Recycling and bulky plastic

If you use the Transfer Station at 1427 Syer Line, Fraserville for garbage drop off, you will have access to the recycling bins that are picked up by the County of Peterborough on a weekly basis. Make sure to sort fibres and papers from your plastic and cans.

Bulky Plastic Program

The Bulky Plastic Program runs throughout the summer. Visit the County of Peterborough to find more information on drop-off spots year round.

Tire collection

You can drop off tires (with no rims) for free at the Transfer Station at 1427 Syer Line, Fraserville. An attendant will direct you to where you can place your tires.

Electronic waste and battery collection

The Transfer Station accepts Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Material. We also accept used batteries. Before dropping off personal devices, make sure to remove all of your personal information.
