Film Permits

The Township of Cavan Monaghan has been host to many film productions including Music Man, Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, Town Christmas Forgot, Let it Snow, Anne with an ‘E' and Rewind.

The Township of Cavan Monaghan encourages filming and photography projects within the Municipality and issues permits for approved projects.

The Township of Cavan Monaghan recognizes the direct and indirect economic benefits to the community associated with the film and television industry.

Pre-approval of projects ensure that Township property and the rights, safety and privacy of the citizens of the Township of Cavan Monaghan are protected, while supporting this industry.

The Film Policy provides guidelines for the assessment and co-ordination of commercial filming projects.

Film permit application process

Step-by-step guide to filming in the Township of Cavan Monaghan.

Scene 1: Film Permit Application

Complete the Location Filming Permit Application form.  It can be completed online or saved on your computer and e-mailed to Brigid Ayotte bayotte@cavanmonaghan.net.

If you are filming on any roads that fall under the authority of the County of Peterborough you will need to complete both a Special Event/Filming on County Road Permit Application for those roads. County Roads in the Township of Cavan Monaghan include: County Road 10 (Tupper Street), 21 (King Street), 28. Note: Permit applications and supporting documents for use of County Roads is required 30 days in advance.

Scene 2: Insurance Certificate

Have your insurance broker email a PDF file of your insurance certificate to bayotte@cavanmonaghan.net or fax your certificate of insurance to our office at 705-932-3458.

Scene 3: Letter of Notification

Prepare and submit your Letter of Notification to the Township of Cavan Monaghan Office for review and approval before being circulated to residents/businesses where filming is proposed to take place.

Letters of notification should be circulated at least 48 hours in advance of the filming.

Scene 4: Permits issued

Your application will be reviewed by the Economic Development Department and the Clerk's office and you will be advised of any conflicts, concerns or if further notification is required i.e. Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) or neighbourhood associations.
