Organic Waste

The Township of Cavan Monaghan operates the Organic Waste Program for residents living in the Millbrook built-up area.

Molok’s Organic Waste Containers have been installed at our Transfer Station located at 1427 Syer Line, Fraserville for any resident to use.

Please bring your organic waste items in a compostable or paper bag and divert waste going to the landfill.

Organic Waste Program Information

Accepted Items: Millbrook Residents Only

You can check to see what is accepted as organic waste in the Organic Waste Sorting Guide.

Collection

Your green curbside bin will be collected weekly at 7 am along with your garbage and recycling. You do not need to wait for your bin to be full to have it collected.

You can line your kitchen collector with a compostable bag, paper bag, newspaper, or have no liner at all. When you fill the bin, you can empty the contents of the kitchen collector, including your bag or liner, into your curbside bin.

Backyard Composting

If you are interested in backyard composting the County of Peterborough sells a variety of composters at the County Public Works Office (310 Armour Road, Peterborough).

Peterborough County is now taking applications for the 2024 Garbage to Garden Program.  Apply to participate in the program and have a composter or digester delivered and installed at your home!

If you are in a multi-unit building and want to participate in the Organic Waste Program, please contact the Public Works Clerk at 705-932-9323.
