Tree Replacement Downtown Millbrook

Crimson Maple Tree Leaves

The Township of Cavan Monaghan will be removing the two Crimson King Maple trees located at 1 King Street in Millbrook Tuesday April 12, 2022.

The removal follows consultation with the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) and a recommendation from Treescape Certified Arborists who noted that both trees are in a state of steady decline. The Tree Condition Assessment Report identified several physiological and structural concerns including girdling roots, frost cracks and Eutypella cankers along the main stem and extending up to the primary branches of the tree. A powdery mildew was present on all foliage and there was an abundance of Gypsy moth egg masses present on both trees.

The trees will be replaced as soon as ground conditions permit.

A link to the Tree Condition Assessment is available on the Township website through the enclosed link: http://www.cavanmonaghan.net/en/news/treeconditionassessment

Staff and Council would like to thank Nexicom who have been making continued efforts to preserve the trees through regular maintenance and trimming.
