Depositing Snow on a Public Roadway

Residents are reminded that pushing snow across a roadway into a ditch or boulevard can create hazards on the road for drivers and is strictly prohibited.   

This practice contravenes both the Municipal By-law 2014-06 for the Disposal of Refuse, Debris and Snow and Part X, Section 181 of the Highway Traffic Act and is subject to the following penalties.

  • As per Schedule A to the Municipal By-law, contravention is subject to a fine of $300.00.
  • Violation of Section 181 of the Highway Traffic Act  is a fine of no less than $60.00 and not more than $1,000.00.
