Grab your lawn chairs and blankets and come to the grounds of the Cavan Monaghan Community Centre for a free Family Outdoor Movie Night, Thursday August 28, 2025. This year’s feature film is A Minecraft Movie, a story about “four misfits suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into a bizarre cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination” (IMBD, 2025)

The Township of Cavan Monaghan is once again collaborating with long-time community supporters, the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation (OLG), to host this fun family night.  

“We are very glad to be partnering with OLG to bring together our community for a fun evening and we thank them for their long history of supporting our Township” says Mayor Matthew Graham. 

“OLG is proud to be a vital part of the Township of Cavan Monaghan,” said Kathleen Devine, OLG’s Senior Municipal Relations Manager. “For the last 50 years, since the organization’s start in 1975, 100 per cent of OLG profits are always reinvested in Ontario to support provincial priorities.  From critical infrastructure to important local programs, to community festivals and community grant programs, OLG’s profits are hard at work in the Township of Cavan Monaghan and all across our province to build stronger communities. We also appreciate the contribution of gaming employees at Shorelines Slots at Kawartha Downs who are making life in Cavan Monaghan that much better. Recreation staff from the Community Centre will kick off the event with some fun pre-movie activities at 7:00 p.m. Movie time is 8:00 p.m. and runs for approximately 1 hour and 41 minutes.
