Christmas Tree - Drop Off
What to do with your Christmas Tree after the holidays?
- The branches and trunk provide shelter for birds and wildlife during cold nights and winter storms.
Garden Mulch
- Once the needles fall, cut the branches and trunk to place near spring flower beds. This helps retain soil moisture.
For the 2025–2026 season, Peterborough County will be accepting natural Christmas Trees for composting at the Douro Depot (713 County Road 4).
- Free of charge during daylight hours
- Available until January 11, 2026
Additional option:
- The Peterborough County/City Waste Management Facility (Bensfort Road Landfill) will also accept trees for composting. Tipping fees apply.
