Changes to Blue Box Recycling

Effective January 1, 2026

Ontario has transitioned to an enhanced, province-wide recycling system managed by Circular Materials, a not-for-profit organization responsible for operating the new common collection system.

For residential properties, this means:

  • Consistent recycling across Ontario - no matter where you live in the Province, the same materials will be accepted in your Blue Bin.
  • More materials are accepted - you can now recycle additional items such as:
    • Hot and cold beverage cups
    • frozen juice containers
    • Black take-out containers
    • Foam packaging
    • Ice cream tubs..and more.  A full list of materials is available through this recycling materials list.

For industrial, commercial and institutional properties, this means:

  • Curbside pick-up has been discontinued
  • Recycling materials can be dropped off free of charge at the Municipal Transfer Station located at 1427 Syer Line during operational hours (Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays 9am to 5pm).

Are you on the Voter's List?

Monday, October 26th is Municipal Election day in communities across the Province.  Check to see that you are on the voters list at www.registertovoteon.ca.

At the same time, review and update your school support by June 1, 2026.  Your school support choice decides which trustee election you can take part in. Property owners and tenants in Ontario can choose their school board, which also affects how you appear on the voters list. MPAC collects this information and shares it with Elections Ontario.
