Notice of Study Commencement

The Municipality of Cavan Monaghan has identified a need to address capacity constraints at the existing Tupper Street Sanitary Pumping Station and associated sanitary sewer infrastructure to accommodate current and future wastewater servicing requirements within the community of Millbrook. The proposed project includes an expansion of the existing pumping station facility at its current location. A Class Environmental Assessment (EA) has been initiated to identify and evaluate alternatives and determine a preferred solution

The Class EA includes evaluation of viable alternative solutions, identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts, and the selection of a preferred alternative. The preferred alternative will be based on environmental and natural resources, feasibility, costs, and integration with existing infrastructure.

This project is being planned in accordance with the requirements for a Schedule “B” Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA). The class EA process includes consultation with the public and review agencies, an evaluation of viable alternatives solutions, an assessment of the impacts of the alternative solutions, identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts, and the selection of a preferred solution.

Public and external agency consultation is a key component of this Study. Details regarding the project will be presented at a future Public Information Centre (PIC) to provide interested stakeholders with an opportunity to meet the Project Team and to discuss alternative solutions, environmental considerations/impacts, evaluation criteria, and design options.

Public input into the planning and design of this project is encouraged and we are interested in receiving any comments that you may have about the Study.
