Development Charges - Notice of Second Public Meeting

The Township of Cavan Monaghan is hosting the second of two public meetings to obtain feedback on its proposed Development Charges By-law and the supporting draft DC Background Study. The meeting will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Office.

Development charges are a key tool that municipalities use to fund the infrastructure and services required to support growth. By ensuring that new development contributes to the cost of growth-related infrastructure, the Township can help manage future development while minimizing impacts on existing taxpayers.

On June 22, 2026, Council held the first public meeting under Section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997, to present the proposed development charges, draft by-law, and Background Study, and to receive public input.

Following further review by Township staff and consultants, refinements have been made to the proposed development charges and related documents. These changes are reflected in Addendum No. 1 to the updated draft DC Background Study, as amended.

Members of the public are invited to attend the public meeting and make representations regarding the proposed by-law and the associated draft Background Study. Residents, businesses, developers, and other interested stakeholders are encouraged to review the supporting materials and provide feedback for consideration as part of the process.
