Film permit application process

Step-by-step guide to filming in the Township of Cavan Monaghan.

Scene 1: Film Permit Application

Create your request for a permit by completing a PDF version of the Location Filming Permit Application form. It can be saved on your computer and e-mailed to Brigid Ayotte bayotte@cavanmonaghan.net or printed and faxed to our office at 705-932-3458.

If you are filming on any roads that fall under the authority of the County of Peterborough you will need to complete both an Event Permit and a Road Occupancy Permit Applicationfor those roads.  County Roads in the Township of Cavan Monaghan include: County Rd. 3, 5, 9, 10, 11, 15, 21 (King Street), 28, and 38.  Note: Permit applications and supporting documents for use of County Roads is required 30 days in advance.

Scene 2: Insurance Certificate

Have your insurance broker email a PDF file of your insurance certificate to bayotte@cavanmonaghan.net or fax your certificate of insurance to our office at 705-932-3458.

We can not issue a permit until the insurance certificate has been received.

Scene 3: Letter of Notification

Prepare and submit your Letter of Notification to the Township of Cavan Monaghan Office for review and approval before being circulated to residents/businesses where filming is proposed to take place.

Letters of notification should be circulated at least 48 hours in advance of the filming.

Scene 4: Permits issued

Your application will be reviewed by the Economic Development Department and the Clerk's office and you will be advised of any conflicts, concerns or if further notification is required i.e. Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) or neighbourhood associations.
